How Dispatch works
From connecting an account to seeing what a post did — the whole path, and what the app is actually doing at each step.
- 01
Connect a channel
Open the Channels page and pick a platform. Dispatch sends you to that platform's own consent screen — Facebook, TikTok, Google, LinkedIn, and so on — where you approve exactly what the app may do.
Dispatch never sees or asks for your social media password. It receives only the access token the platform issues after you approve, and stores it to publish the content you schedule. If your account administers more than one Page or location, you choose which one to connect.
- 02
Write once, adapt per channel
The composer takes one piece of content and lets you tailor it per channel, so a post going to X and LinkedIn on the same day can carry different wording without being typed twice.
Each platform's own limits are checked as you write rather than at publish time — the 280-character ceiling on X, 500 on Threads, 2,200 on Instagram and TikTok — along with the file formats, sizes, and video durations that platform accepts. You find out about a problem while editing, not after a post has failed.
- 03
Schedule it
Pick the date and time each channel should publish, and the post joins the queue. The calendar shows everything coming up across every business and channel in one view, so gaps and clashes are visible before they happen.
Anything not ready to go can stay a draft. Drafts are never published, which also makes them the safe way to try the composer out.
- 04
Dispatch publishes for you
At the scheduled time the app publishes to each platform through that platform's official API. Where a network requires a multi-step upload — Instagram's media containers, TikTok's asynchronous publish, Facebook's video processing — Dispatch runs the whole sequence and waits for the platform to confirm.
If a platform rejects something, the post is marked failed with the error that platform returned, so you can see whether it was an expired connection or a content problem.
- 05
See how it performed
For the networks that expose it, Dispatch reads engagement and follower figures back for the accounts you connected and shows them on your dashboard, so you are not opening several native apps to compare.
Coverage varies by platform because the platforms themselves differ in what their APIs return. The supported platforms page sets out exactly what is available where, rather than implying it is uniform.
Working across several businesses
Dispatch was built for people who run or manage more than one business, so channels, media, and calendars are kept separate per business rather than pooled together. You switch between them instead of signing out and back in.
On team plans a post can require approval before it goes out, which is how a coordinator drafts and an owner signs off without sharing one login between them.
